Just a 10-minute walk through the beautiful mountain village of Grindelwald to the base station and roundtrip travel on the three-segment First aerial cableway. First is ideal for mountain walks, skiing and hiking. Total travel time: 30-minute travel time with a stopover in Bort and Schreckfeld.

Recommended activities include: 50-minute hike to Lake Bachalpsee where the mountain peaks are reflected in the lake, stop at Bort station to visit the child's play area; First Cliff Walk by Tissot: a 40 meter (131 ft) long suspension bridge that leads along the rock-face to the west side of the summit and has a 45 meter (148 ft) long observation platform and panoramic views.

Additional activities available on First at an additional cost: Trottibike (non-motorized scooter with wide wheels and no seat) from Bort to Grindelwald, First Flyer (zipline) from First to Schreckfeld, Mountain Cart (go-kart type vehicle) from Schreckfeld to Bort.

Marmot Trail (Mid-June to mid-October): Get to know the rodents of the Alps. Experience the interactive Marmot Trail. This path leads from First to Schilt and continues on to the barbecue area in Oberläger. Make yourself comfortable there after the two-hour hike with a cervelat sausage or a bratwurst before you continue your hike towards Schreckfeld or Grosse Scheidegg. With a little luck, quiet and patience, you are certain to see one of the Alpine marmots. There are information boards and numerous carved wooden Alpine marmots along the way. There are two marmot benches and a marmot photo wall (with cut-out for the head) for a short break. Don't miss it: Get the Munggi book at the Firstbahn ticket office and take part in the competition on page 7. Submit your answers at the Firstbahn ticket office to get a Munggi figure.
