I was very excited to travel on board the Eurostar for my first time this year, as one of the most popular train journeys we sell I was looking forward to seeing how good it actually was.
I had a three hour transit time in Paris, I was going to take a walk around, however it was pouring with rain so decided to take full use of the Eurostar lounge pass I had (available with Business Premier tickets) and I was so glad I did, it was wonderful, free internet access and WiFi, but more importantly fresh croissants, tarts, salad rolls, nuts, olives and the list goes on, breakfast or lunch was no longer required!! The best part was still to come though...at 10am a full bar was opened...complimentary!! I settled down nicely with a Gin and Tonic, and since I did have three hours I indulged in another!!
It was then time to board the train, Eurostar lounge passengers can enter the platform via a private door no later than 10 minutes prior to the trains departure time, allowing as much time as possible for you to enjoy the lounge...which I did. The helpful attendant on the platform showed me to my 1st class seat and before I knew it the train was speeding off to London.
Whilst on board we were offered a delicious glass of champagne and a few minutes later we were given lunch, when traveling in 1st class on the Eurostar all drinks and your meal are included in the price, fantastic value as I had a scrumptious Salmon with of course another glass of wine for lunch.
After 2hrs & 15 minutes we had arrived at the lovely new St Pancras Station in London which is conveniently located next door to Kings Cross Station and even though I was perhaps a little tipsy, I was completely won over by the Eurostar and can see why it is such a popular train, there is nothing better than arriving at your destination in the city centre. A very enjoyable train ride!
