Great Southern Itineraries


The Great Southern travels from Adelaide to Brisbane and Brisbane to Adelaide. This journey does not go through Melbourne and passengers cannot start or end the journey anywhere else besides Adelaide & Brisbane.

Adelaide to Brisbane

  3 days/2 nights

Departs: Fridays 9:00am
Arrives: Sundays 4.20pm

Day 1: The Grampians

Explore one of Australia’s most stunning wilderness regions, boasting sandstone mountains, wildflowers, waterfalls and native fauna such as echidnas and wallabies.


Day 2: Canberra

There’s more than just politics in our nation’s capital. While the jewel in Canberra’s crown is Parliament House, it is also home to landmarks such as the National Portrait Gallery, Australian War Memorial and the National Arboretum. There are plenty of opportunities to delve into this city’s art, history and culinary culture.

Day 3: Northern NSW Coast and Brisbane

Enjoy brunch with stunning seaside views on the northern NSW coast - a stone’s throw from Coffs Harbour.

Brisbane to Adelaide

 4 days/3 nights

Departs: Mondays 10:15am
Arrives: Thursdays 9.30am

Day 1: Brisbane and Northern NSW Coast

Watch the sun dip into the horizon as you dine to the sounds of the waves lapping on the shore. The Northern New South Wales Coast stretches across 90km of incredible sandy beaches and some of the best surfing breaks in the world.


Day 2: Hunter Valley and surrounds

Pass the Semillon and Shiraz! Take the time to meander through the picturesque Hunter Valley vineyards, home to world-renowned brands and family-run boutique cellar doors alike.


Day 3: Regional Victoria and the Twelve Apostles

Embrace the pastoral perfection of regional Victoria and its paddock-to-plate dining ethos.

Ascend the dramatic cliff faces along which the famous Great Ocean Road passes and marvel at the Twelve Apostles – a majestic collection of crumbling pillars rising from the Southern Ocean.


Day 4: Adelaide

Looking out of your window this morning you'll notice the beautiful green fields and pastoral lands of South Australia.

After breakfast the Great Southern rolls into Adelaide. Here, you may wish to extend your stay with trips to the Barossa Valley or Kangaroo Island topping the to-do list.
