This incredible cogwheel railway takes you up to 3454 metres and a guarantee of ice and snow anytime of the year. We started our journey at the Interlaken Station The train goes through lush countryside and coiling spectacularly up Grindlewal's mountain to breathtaking treelined Klein Scheidegg where a group of locals boarded the train dressed and doning skis ready to ski down the snowy mountain. The journey continues through the Eiger tunnel stopping along the way to enjoy spectacular sightseeing through large observation windows hewn out of sold Alpine rock at the glaciers of the Eismeer. Once at the top, Jungfraujoch, you experience the wonderland of the Ice Palace, Alpine Research Centre and the Sphinx Observation Terrace. If the altitude does not take your breath away, like it did mine, the stunning views extending as far as France and the Black Forest in Germany certainly will! Shivering from the observation deck we warmed up wih a cup of hot cocoa in the revolving mountain top restaurant made famous in the James Bond film, On Her Majesti's Secret Service. For a great combination of fun, nature and swiss traditions try moonlight Dog Sledding down a 1 hour long sled run winding through woods, crossing alpine meadows and passes majestic frozen waterfalls, followed by a traditional Swiss cheese fondue dinner in a small local restaurant. On the way down on the train, the view was doted with all the locals winding their way down the most scenic ski run on the planet towards Grindelwald.
