Please note charges of a personal nature including any optional excursions, drinks in the bar car, visa and excess baggage charges, insurance and laundry services are not included in the price.

The Train

The Silk Road itinerary consists of travel on the Shangri-La Express and the Trans-Siberian Express.

THE SHANGRI-LA EXPRESS

Our accommodation on board the Shangri-La Express offers passengers a comfortable setting with modern facilities and air conditioned cars.

A wash basin facility is shared between adjoining compartments for the convenience of our guests and toilet/wash facilities are available at each end of the sleeping carriages.

A separate state of the art shower car with individual compartments, each containing a shower and changing area is located centrally on the train.

As standard with all our private trains, towels and robes are provided. We also offer, at extra cost, an on board laundry service.

Restaurant Cars
A western breakfast is available to all guests before embarking upon the day's adventures. Our Chinese chefs offer a variety of gastronomic local specialties at lunch and dinner using the finest local ingredients.

Quality wines from around the world are served with both lunch and dinner, along with beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee.

Bar Car
A relaxed setting to meet and chat with your fellow passengers whilst watching the passing countryside. Serving an extensive array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, our bar stays open until the last person leaves.

THE TRANS-SIBERIAN EXPRESS

There are now two trains which service this route. Please check our "itineraries" section to see which train is running on your preferred departure date.

Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express
The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express features 21 new carriages including three cabin styles; Gold, Silver and New Heritage.

GOLD CLASS

• 77 sq ft (7 sq metres)
• Sleeps 2 in either lower standard (4ft 6) double bed or bunk style
• Remote controlled air-conditioning and heating
• Recessed lighting and wardrobe
• Personal safe
• Private en-suite bathroom with full power shower and underfloor heating
• DVD/CD player with LCD screens
• Towels and Linens changed regularly
• Complimentary tea, coffee and mineral water in cabin
• Drinks from the Bar Car included from the Standard Bar List

SILVER CLASS

• 60 sq ft (5.5 sq metres)
• Sleeps 2 in lower small double bed (4ft) or bunk style
• Remote controlled air-conditioning and heating

• Private en-suite bathroom with 'wet-room' style shower and toilet
• DVD/CD player with LCD screens
• Towels and Linens changed regularly
• Complimentary tea, coffee and mineral water in cabin

• 6 cabins per carriage

NEW HERITAGE CLASS

• 39 sq ft (3.6 sq metres)
• Sleeps 2 in bunk style
• Remote controlled air-conditioning and heating
• Recessed lighting and wardrobe
• Washbasin
• Towels and Linens changed regularly
• Complimentary tea, coffee and mineral water in cabin
• Laundry service available for a fee
• 8 cabins per carriage
• Toilets available at each end of the carriage
• Separate Shower compartment at the end of the carriage

Restaurant Cars
Our chefs use the finest of local ingredients for lunch and dinner. From traditional and world renowned 'Borsch' to caviar and Omul; fish unique to Lake Baikal. Quality wines from around the world compliment our meals, along with mineral water, soft drinks and naturally, Vodka.

Bar Car
The social hive of activity is our Bar Car. Featured on every departure it provides guests with the ideal setting to watch the passing countryside, writing postcards, talking with fellow passengers or for pre and post dinner drinks. Serving an extensive array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, it stays open until the last person leaves. Our Golden Eagle train features our newly designed and built stylish Bar Car.
