Two Itineraries, two trains:

El Transcantábrico Clásico: The itinerary between Santiago de Compostela to León and vice versa is known as "El Transcantábrico Clásico". El Transcantábrico Clásico has 28 Classic Suites, from these, 25 are double bed suites, 2 have double bed + 1 folding bunk bed, and 1 has a double bed. The maximum capacity of the train is of 54 passengers.

El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo: The itinerary between San Sebastian to Sanitago de Compostela and vice versa is know as "El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo." This train is much more luxurious than the Clasico and recently refurbished, with the Double Suites using the space of half a train carriage. This new Transcantábrico is composed only and exclusively for Suites Privileges with 5 different designs. El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo has 14 Suites Privileges; from these 10 are double bed suites + 1 sofa bed and 4 with two low beds + 1 sofa bed. The maximum capacity of the train is normally 28 passengers, however it could also reach up to 42 passengers if the sofas are used as triple.

Compartments

Each suite on the El Transcantabrico is especially designed for rest and privacy. Travellers can sleep silently because the train is completely stationary overnight.

Each suite compartment has a double bed, and some have the option of an extra overhead bunk bed. All compartments are equipped with luggage space, mini bar, safety deposit box, wardrobe, writing desk and telephone with an outside line. The private bathroom has a hydro-sauna, turbo massage, steam bath and hairdryer. Air-conditioning, heating, music and lights are controlled individually and the floors of the compartments are carpeted. All suites have large windows allowing travellers to contemplate the passing scenery. Curtains provide the privacy needed for rest. All cars are connected internally for the travellers' ease of movement.

Lounge cars

There are four lounge cars onboard .These are the common areas of the train, where many have began a lasting friendship inspired by the unique ambience of the carriages.

One of the lounge cars has a bar and a dance floor. This is the 'pub car', decorated and lit like a small nightclub, where entertainment is provided every night until the early hours of the morning. Another lounge car has a second bar where you can relax and enjoy a drink. The other two lounge cars are for a different type of enjoyment, where travellers can read, enjoy a chat, share a table with other travellers and play one of the many board games provided, or just relax and take in the passing scenery through the wide windows of each car. Our waiters will attend to all your needs at anytime.

Unforseen events

The itineraries may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond the control of the organiser or due to problems that can occur in the normal operation of the rail network on which El Transcantábrico runs. In these cases, the Organiser will adopt the most appropriate solutions for continuing the organised trip, with no extra charge to passengers.
