The French Riviera or 'Côte d'Azur' as known in France, is one of the most talked-about and well known Coastal regions on the Mediterranean Sea. Situated in the South east corner of France, it is known for its high end beachside resorts, luxury hotels, restaurants and celebrity tourists.
Among the most popular areas are Nice, Cannes (home of the renowned film festival), Monaco, Saint Raphaël and Saint Tropez.
Most of these areas are easily accessible by train, and services are quite frequent. Direct TGV fast trains from Paris to Nice run up to 9 times a day and only take 5 ½ hours. Once in Nice, hop on a regional train heading south and it will take you to Cannes, Saint Raphaël and as far as Frejus. In order to get from Frejus to Saint Tropez, you will need to get off the train at Frejus and either take a bus or hire a car to drive to Saint Tropez as it does not have a train line.
If you're in the area, why not stop by Monacco and check on Monte Carlo? It is a short 22 minute regional train from Nice, and it is included for all Passes including France.
You will be able to use these trains with any pass that covers France; however any fast trains you take will require a compulsory seat reservation before you hop on. Regional trains do not require a seat reservation.
