The main tip is that it pays to get the official stamp to validate the pass done prior to the actual day of beginning the pass if possible as usually the lines are quite long at the TGV offices and it can be very stressful if trying to control luggage and watch out for train arrival etc. They will stamp it with a future date of first day of travel for you if you ask. Then on the actual first day of travel - just need to fill in the date on your pass and hop on the train if you have the seat reservations in advance also.
